Makarand Narwekar Urges BMC to Rebuild Dilapidated Nariman Point Fire Station

BJP corporator Makarand Narwekar has appealed to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to expedite the redevelopment of the fire station in the Nariman Point area of Mumbai.
According to Narwekar, the current ground-plus-one (G+1) structure of the Nariman Point fire station is in a dilapidated condition. The push to fast-track the project aims to modernize and reconstruct the station, which is expected to improve emergency and fire safety services in the high-profile neighborhood.
To address the issue, Narwekar sent an official letter to Maharashtra Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal, BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar.
In his letter, the BJP corporator pointed out that the redevelopment of the fire station had already been discussed during a meeting on January 7. The discussions focused on the reconstruction of the fire station on its 3,500-square-metre plot, during which the BMC was asked to make a plan for the project.
By rebuilding the aging facility, local authorities seek to upgrade the infrastructure to better handle emergency situations in the Nariman Point area. Narwekar's appeal urges the BMC to quickly move forward with the necessary planning and development steps for the site.
