Mumbai Auto and Taxi Minimum Fares Hiked to Rs 27 and Rs 33

Commuters across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) will have to pay higher travel rates starting Tuesday, September 1, following a revision in fares for both auto-rickshaws and black-and-yellow taxis.

Under the revised structure, the minimum fare for an auto-rickshaw has increased by Re 1, moving up from Rs 26 to Rs 27. Passengers hiring black-and-yellow taxis will see a steeper rise, with the minimum fare climbing by Rs 2, from Rs 31 to Rs 33.

The newly introduced minimum fares apply directly to the initial 1.5-kilometre journey for both modes of public transport across the region.

The revised tariff structure came into effect from September 1, requiring passengers travelling throughout the Mumbai Metropolitan Region to pay the updated base rates for their daily commutes.
