Mumbai Lakes Reach 95.94 Per Cent Water Stock at 13.88 Lakh Million Litres

Mumbai's seven reservoirs supplying drinking water to the city held a collective stock of 13,88,542 million litres, reaching 95.94 per cent of their total live storage capacity as of 6 am on Thursday, September 3.

The measurement was recorded and reported by the Hydraulic Engineer's Department operating from the Bhandup Master Control Centre.

The current water reserves are slightly lower compared to the corresponding period last year. During the same period in the previous year, the seven lakes contained 13,94,292 million litres of water, which accounted for 96.33 per cent of total capacity.

The current storage figures also remain lower than the levels recorded in 2024. In that year, the reservoirs had accumulated 14,05,678 million litres, representing 97.12 per cent of the total live storage capacity available across the network.
