Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde Hoists National Flag at Byculla on 80th Independence Day

Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde hoisted the national flag at the Mayor’s Bungalow in Byculla at 7 am on Saturday to mark the nation's 80th Independence Day, extending greetings to residents across the city.

Addressing attendees at the ceremony, Tawde highlighted the significance of the occasion and urged citizens to uphold the memory of the country's freedom fighters.

"On Independence Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all Mumbaikars," Tawde said. "On this day, and every day, we should keep love and goodwill for our country in our hearts. We must remember our brave freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation and carry forward the values and lessons they taught us."

Tawde also stressed the importance of unity, love, and collaboration among different tiers of administration to drive development. She noted that collective efforts between the Central Government, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, and the Maharashtra state government are essential to fulfilling the vision of a developed India.

The flag-hoisting ceremony at Byculla was attended by municipal officials, staff, and local residents. Among the civic officials present were Deputy Commissioner (Division 1) Chanda Jadhav and Assistant Commissioner of Division I Anand Kankal.

Independence Day celebrations were held across the state with a focus on 'Yuva Shakti', highlighting the role of youth in India's journey toward Viksit Bharat by 2047. Elsewhere, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unfurled the Tricolour at Mantralaya in Mumbai before addressing the public, while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde led celebrations in Thane and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar hoisted the flag in Beed.
