Mumbai Metro Line 2A Technical Glitch Forces Single Track Operations

A technical glitch on Mumbai Metro Line 2A disrupted train services on Saturday, forcing operators to implement temporary single-track operations on a section of the corridor. The disruption, which occurred between the Dahisar East and Kandarpada stations, impacted commuters traveling to and from Andheri West by causing longer waiting times.

According to a passenger advisory issued by the metro operator, Maha Mumbai Metro, services across the corridor remained operational throughout the day despite the technical fault. However, train operations on a specific section of the line had to be regulated until the technical issue could be fully resolved.

While services between Andheri West and Dahanukarwadi continued to operate as per their regular schedule, the section between Dahanukarwadi and Dahisar East was heavily affected. On this specific stretch, trains were forced to run on a single track in both directions, with metro rakes sharing one line under a temporary bi-directional operating system.

Maha Mumbai Metro officials clarified that services were not suspended and that the entire Metro Line 2A corridor remained functional. Despite this, passengers traveling through the affected stretch of the line were advised to expect additional waiting times due to the temporary operational arrangement.

To address the issue, Maha Mumbai Metro deployed its technical teams to the site. The operator stated that these teams were working on a priority basis to rectify the fault and restore normal two-track operations at the earliest.

The metro operator also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers during the service disruption. Maha Mumbai Metro thanked the commuters for their patience and cooperation while the restoration work was underway on the tracks.

Metro Line 2A, which connects Dahisar and Andheri West in DN Nagar, is one of the key east-west public transport corridors in Mumbai's western suburbs, carrying thousands of daily commuters.
