Mumbai Press Club Hosts Panel Discussion on Gen Z Protests and Indian Democracy

Journalists and activists gathered at the Mumbai Press Club on Tuesday to discuss lessons emerging from recent youth-led movements and the role of younger generations in strengthening the country's democratic framework.

The panel discussion, titled 'Deepening Our Democracy: Lessons from Gen Z Protests', was jointly organised by the Mumbai chapter of the Network of Women in Media in India (NWMI) and the Mumbai Press Club.

The session explored the evolving role of young people in shaping India's democratic future in the wake of recent protests across various parts of the country.

Senior journalist Kalpana Sharma moderated the discussion. The panel featured youth activists who shared their first-hand experiences from recent demonstrations.

Among the speakers was Neha Bora from the All India Students Association (AISA), who had participated in protests at Jantar Mantar. She was joined on the panel by Rhiya Yadav, who had taken part in protests held at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

The speakers and attendees examined the impact of youth-led movements, discussing how recent Gen Z demonstrations contribute to democratic engagement and civic participation.
