Police arrest Anas Khan for stabbing pedestrian outside Mahim railway station

The Mahim police have arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a 35-year-old resident in the stomach outside the Mahim railway station in Mumbai. The arrest of the accused, Anas Khan, took place three days after the violent assault, which was triggered by an argument over a dropped mobile phone.

According to the police, the incident occurred on a Thursday night as the victim, Naveen Prasanna, was walking home from the Mahim railway station after finishing his work. While walking, Prasanna accidentally bumped into Khan, which caused Khan's mobile phone to fall to the ground.

An argument quickly ensued between the two pedestrians. Police officials reported that despite Prasanna apologizing for the accidental bump, Khan refused to let the matter go. Khan allegedly demanded financial compensation from Prasanna for the damaged mobile phone.

The confrontation escalated when Khan threatened the victim and stabbed him in the stomach. Khan then fled the scene immediately after the stabbing.

Despite his severe injuries, Prasanna managed to walk back to his home. Once he arrived, his family members realized he had been wounded and rushed him to a hospital for emergency treatment.

The Mahim police initially registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an unidentified person and launched a search. Investigators analyzed CCTV footage from the area around the railway station and used technical surveillance to identify and locate the suspect.

Following his arrest, Khan was presented before a local court, which remanded him to police custody.

"We arrested the accused and are investigating the exact motive behind the attack," an officer from the Mahim police station said regarding the arrest.
