Proposed 856.57-km Shaktipeeth Highway to Connect Nagpur and Goa Across 13 Districts

The proposed 856.57-km Shaktipeeth Highway will connect Nagpur with Goa, linking 21 religious sites and providing direct connectivity to 13 districts under its revised alignment, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Dr Anilkumar Gaikwad said on Thursday.

The project is set to become the second major highway in Maharashtra in terms of total length, ranking just behind the Samruddhi Mahamarg. It is slated to play a key role in expanding and strengthening the state’s planned expressway network.

Details of the highway and its alignment were addressed during a workshop that brought together key administrative and revenue officials. The session was attended by sub-divisional officers, district superintendents of land records, and deputy superintendents of land records representing various districts from across the state.

According to officials, the expressway route has been planned to significantly improve regional mobility, providing enhanced connectivity across the 13 covered districts while facilitating easier access for pilgrims travelling to major religious destinations across Maharashtra.
