SCLR BKC-WEH Connector Opens but Motorists Face Severe Landing Chokepoints

SCLR BKC-WEH Connector Opens but Motorists Face Severe Landing Chokepoints

The Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) project has reached completion with the opening of the connector linking Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to the Western Express Highway (WEH). While the route has notably reduced overall travel time for motorists, commuters are already encountering severe traffic bottlenecks at key landing points.

Motorists travelling between BKC and the Western Express Highway reported that the new elevated link provides faster movement along the main corridor. However, severe congestion forms at the locations where the connector descends back to surface roads, creating long queues of vehicles.

The congestion has made both entering and exiting the newly opened connector difficult during peak hours. Traffic heading toward BKC from the flyover has experienced heavy build-ups stretching toward the Asian Heart Institute signal.

While the newly opened connector marks the final stage of the long-awaited SCLR infrastructure, commuters have highlighted the urgent need to address the landing point chokepoints to ensure smooth dispersal of vehicles into the local road network.
