Thane Traffic Police Announce Diversions in Mumbra and Ulhasnagar for Eid-e-Milad
The Thane City Traffic Police have issued comprehensive traffic advisories and route diversions for the Mumbra and Vitthalwadi sub-divisions in Thane to maintain smooth traffic flow during Eid-e-Milad celebrations on August 26, 2026. The restrictions, ordered by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat, take effect at 2:00 PM and will remain operational until the conclusion of the religious processions.
Emergency response vehicles, including ambulances, fire tenders, and police vans, have been strictly exempted from all restrictions.
In the Mumbra sub-division, authorities have prohibited the entry of all heavy vehicles into Mumbra via Retibunder and Y-Junction near Kalsekar College. Heavy vehicles will instead be re-routed via the Mumbra Bypass to reach their destinations.
Public and private buses approaching via Retibunder and Y-Junction are also barred from entering Mumbra city. Buses transporting passengers bound for Retibunder or Y-Junction must disembark commuters at those designated points and turn back, or bypass Mumbra city by using the Mumbra Bypass route.
In the Vitthalwadi and Ulhasnagar sub-division, rolling closures and strict parking regulations have been laid out to accommodate local processions. Traffic will be temporarily halted or redirected segment-by-segment as processions move through Nehru Nagar in Ulhasnagar 5, Vasant Bahar Chowk, the Old Bus Stop, Main Road, the road fronting Hill Line Police Station, Netaji Chowk, Bhatiya Chowk, Kurla Camp Road, Samata Nagar Road, and Kailash Colony.
Parking is completely prohibited along the entire stretch of the Ulhasnagar procession route. Motorists have been instructed to park their vehicles on designated side roads and adjacent lanes along the corridor.
Commuters traveling through Mumbra, Kalyan, and Ulhasnagar have been advised to plan their trips in advance, utilize designated bypass roads, and follow instructions from traffic personnel deployed across the affected areas.
