Three Detained in Bandra West Road-Rage Attack on Fitness Trainer

The Bandra police have detained and subsequently released three men after they allegedly rammed a car and physically assaulted fitness strategist Arjunjit Garewal near Bandra Lake in Bandra West around midnight on Sunday.

The three accused have been identified as Anas K, 25, who works at a private firm; Bilal Shaikh, 30; and Rajen. The police registered a First Information Report against the trio on Sunday under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for allegedly assaulting Garewal and criminally intimidating him.

According to the FIR, Garewal, 39, was travelling towards his residence in Mahim with his wife, Bhakti, an HR director at a university. The couple was returning home after dinner at Garewal's parents' house in Juhu when an XUV began repeatedly overtaking their car and deliberately slowing down in front of it.

Garewal stated that he honked two or three times and waited for the vehicle to move before overtaking it. The accused then chased Garewal's car and rammed their vehicle into his near a petrol pump. When Garewal tried to drive away, the attackers rammed his car a second time.

The accused eventually forced Garewal's vehicle to a stop near Bandra Lake, where they allegedly assaulted him with fists and kicks. During the attack, the group damaged the car windows using a hockey stick, while one individual attempted to hit Garewal with a baseball bat.

Garewal noted that no bystanders came to their assistance during the incident, leading his wife to dial the 100 emergency helpline. A police team reached the spot and detained three suspects, while others allegedly fled the scene.

Following their detention, the Bandra police served formal notices to Anas K, Shaikh, and Rajen before releasing them.
