Two Devotees Killed as Ganesh Idol Falls in Mumbai's Bhuleshwar, Police Probe Underway

Two Ganesh devotees were killed on Sunday after a Ganpati idol collapsed during its arrival procession in Mumbai's Bhuleshwar neighbourhood, prompting authorities to launch a formal police investigation.
According to preliminary information, the welding support situated at the back of the idol gave way and broke, causing the structure to fall onto devotees participating in the arrival event.
Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar addressed the incident on Sunday, confirming that police personnel are actively conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collapse.
Shelar described the incident as deeply distressing and painful, stating that comprehensive details regarding how the mishap occurred should clearly emerge through the official inquiry report.
The minister also expressed hope for the speedy recovery of other individuals who sustained injuries during the idol collapse. Mumbai Police personnel were deployed to the site in Bhuleshwar following the incident to assess the area and manage the situation as the probe continues.
