Two Men on Motorcycle Killed in Hit-and-Run Near Nelco Circle in Mahape MIDC

Two young men travelling to work on a motorcycle were killed after an unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into their two-wheeler near Nelco Circle in the Mahape MIDC area on Tuesday night. The driver of the offending vehicle fled the scene immediately without offering assistance or alerting authorities.
The deceased have been identified as Sachin Mahadev Gaikwad, 27, a resident of Savitribai Nagar in Sheel village, and Rohit Vilas Babar, 23, a resident of Marathon Next Town in Desai village along Shilphata Road. Both men lived in the Diva-Sheel area and were heading to their night shift at a private firm located near the APMC Market.
According to the police, Gaikwad and Babar were riding a Honda Shine motorcycle at around 10 pm. As they reached the vicinity of Nelco Circle, an unidentified vehicle struck their motorcycle with heavy force. The impact threw both riders onto the road, leaving them critically injured.
Personnel from the Turbhe police station rushed to the spot after receiving information about the collision and shifted both victims to a nearby hospital. However, both men succumbed to their severe injuries before they could receive medical treatment.
Turbhe police have initiated an investigation to trace the absconding driver and track down the vehicle involved. Officials are currently reviewing CCTV footage from cameras installed along surrounding roads to determine the vehicle's registration details and route of escape.
A case has been registered at the Turbhe police station against the unidentified motorist under Sections 106(1), 281, 125(a), and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alongside Sections 184 and 134(a)(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act. Police Sub-Inspector Rajendra Chitte is leading the ongoing investigation.
