13-Year-Old Girl Killed in Mumbra Building Balcony Collapse

A 13-year-old girl was killed and five other people were safely rescued after a balcony slab collapsed at a residential building in the Mumbra area of Thane on Monday evening.

The structural collapse occurred in a ground-plus-four-storey residential building. According to officials, the balcony slab belonging to a flat on the second floor broke off and fell directly onto the first floor below.

The falling debris trapped a total of six individuals underneath. Emergency response authorities carried out rescue operations at the site, successfully pulling five trapped people out safely from beneath the rubble. However, the 13-year-old girl lost her life in the incident.

Following the collapse, authorities evacuated the entire building as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all residents. Officials confirmed that the structure is 38 years old.
