3,436 Maharashtra Women Gain Farmer Status in State Revenue Drive
A total of 3,436 women across Maharashtra were officially registered as farmers during the first six days of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maharajaswa Samadhan Shibir campaign, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced in Mumbai. The initiative, conducted by the state Revenue Department, was launched on July 22 on the occasion of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's birthday and the birth anniversary of late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and will run through August 2.
The campaign aims to empower women by providing them with land rights and official farmer status, enabling them to access government benefits and agricultural welfare schemes. Across the state, camps set up across Assembly constituencies provided direct assistance and services to 4,35,209 citizens in both rural and urban areas during the opening six days.
The Nagpur revenue division recorded the highest number of women granted farmer status, with 1,219 registrations. Within the division, Gondia district led with 1,067 newly registered women farmers, followed by Gadchiroli with 75, Bhandara with 39, and Chandrapur with 38.
The drive covers 15 types of revenue-related services. Under the 'Swamitva Sanad' scheme aimed at providing land ownership rights to village settlement residents, certificates were distributed to 426 beneficiaries in Nagpur, 368 in Amravati, 294 in Akola, and 153 in Gondia.
Officials also resolved farm road access disputes under the Chief Minister Baliraja Shet-Panand Road Scheme. A total of 2,797 disputes were settled and farm roads opened in Akola, alongside 422 in Gondia, 165 in Nagpur, 145 in Bhandara, and 92 in Chandrapur.
Under special housing assistance provisions, direct aid was provided to 9,616 beneficiaries in Chandrapur, 1,629 in Gondia, and 519 in Kolhapur. The department also regularised old residential encroachments on government land for 617 families in Chandrapur, 536 in Nagpur, and 504 in Gondia.
Through the 'Jivant Satbara' campaign for updating land records, revenue issues were resolved on the spot for 2,733 farmers in Satara, 1,460 in Buldhana, 660 in Amravati, 652 in Nagpur, and 543 in Sangli. Overall, the Pune revenue division recorded the highest footprint with 66,200 beneficiaries, followed by Buldhana district with 15,843 and Kolhapur with 14,289.
Revenue Minister Bawankule said the drive aims to bring administration directly to the public's doorstep to deliver transparent, speedy, and people-centric services across Maharashtra.
