Andheri Motorist Injured, Volunteer Killed in Rain-Related Tree Collapses

ANDHERI — Heavy rainfall continued to wreak havoc across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region on Tuesday, triggering separate tree-related accidents in Andheri and Khandala Ghat. These incidents resulted in one motorist being injured and hospitalized, while a 25-year-old volunteer tragically lost his life while helping to clear a blocked highway.
In the Andheri incident, a motorist sustained injuries after a large tree suddenly fell on him amid the incessant rainfall. According to reports from NewMinuteNews, the tree had been weakened by the continuous rain before it collapsed onto the road and struck the rider. Following the collapse, the injured motorist was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing the aftermath of the tree fall on the road.
Meanwhile, another video surfacing on social media highlighted a separate, tragic incident that occurred in Khandala Ghat on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway. As shown in the visuals shared online, Aman Mujawar, who was a 25-year-old resident of Khopoli, lost his life while helping clear a tree that had fallen on the highway due to the heavy rainfall. Mujawar and his friends had reportedly volunteered to remove the fallen tree to help restore traffic movement.
During the clearing operation on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway, a rope tied to one of the tree branches snapped unexpectedly, causing the heavy branch to swing back and strike Mujawar forcefully in the stomach. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
These separate accidents come as heavy monsoon showers continue to lash Mumbai and adjoining regions. This ongoing rainfall has led to waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and several instances of trees collapsing throughout the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
