BMC and Government School Students Showcase South Mumbai Photos on Photography Day

A group of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and government school students showcased photographs of iconic landmarks across South Mumbai on World Photography Day, capturing historic sites such as the Gateway of India, Mani Bhavan, and the Paradox Museum.
The showcase was the culmination of an initiative conducted under an ongoing collaboration between bus transit operator Cityflo and the Salaam Bombay Foundation. As part of the programme, the students received photography training and travelled across the city aboard Cityflo buses during an Independence Day outing to capture various locations through their own perspectives.
A curated selection of the students' photographs will be featured across Cityflo's platforms over the coming weeks to present their work to a wider audience beyond the classroom.
Cityflo Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer Sankalp Kelshikar stated that the initiative provided a unique perspective of Mumbai through the eyes of young students. The bus service company, established in 2015, currently operates more than 1,200 buses and records approximately 18 million rides annually across Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
Savio Pashana, Head of Communications at the Salaam Bombay Foundation, noted that the programme allowed the students to explore iconic destinations, practice their photography skills, and build self-confidence in sharing their visual narratives.
Among the participating students whose work was featured were Harshraj Sahani, Komal Sutar, Prithvi Zende, and Taushef Mansoori. The students shared their experiences from the outing, which served as both an educational workshop and an exploration of the city.
Sahani expressed his excitement about photographing the Gateway of India, while Sutar described the bus journey across the city as feeling like a picnic. Zende shared that he had previously only taken photos on his father’s mobile phone before receiving formal training through the Foundation. Mansoori added that photography allows him to preserve personal memories and that he aims to continue developing his craft.
