BMC Demolishes 94 Stalls in Bhandup, Clears 134 Footpaths Across Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has demolished 94 stalls in the Bhandup area and cleared encroachments from 134 footpaths across Mumbai as part of the first phase of its 'Pedestrian First' campaign.

The civic body announced on Saturday that the drive has successfully cleared nearly 197 kilometres of pedestrian walkways so far. The initiative aims to provide safer, easier, and obstruction-free walking routes for pedestrians throughout the city.

Under the first phase of the campaign, the BMC identified a total of 200 footpaths for clearance. Work has already been taken up on 134 of these identified stretches.

Civic authorities have executed anti-encroachment operations at 1,459 individual locations across all 26 civic administrative wards in Mumbai to reclaim pedestrian pathways.
