BNCMC Reviews Electoral Roll Revision Progress in Bhiwandi
The Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC) held a comprehensive review meeting on Monday in Bhiwandi to assess the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Municipal Commissioner Anmol Sagar (IAS) chaired the meeting and directed civic officials to accelerate the collection, verification, and digitisation of electoral forms to ensure the timely completion of the process.
According to data shared during the review, the distribution of SIR forms reached 56% in the 136-Bhiwandi West Assembly constituency and 60% in the 137-Bhiwandi East Assembly constituency. Meanwhile, form digitisation has been completed for 27% of forms in Bhiwandi West and 30% in Bhiwandi East. Commissioner Sagar instructed officials to eliminate delays and finish the remaining digitisation work on a war footing.
The review meeting was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioner and Additional District Election Officer Vitthal Dake, Electoral Registration Officer and Sub-Divisional Officer Babasaheb Tele for Bhiwandi West, and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer Ajay Gholve for Bhiwandi East, along with senior civic officials. All election registration officers were instructed to monitor the status of the exercise every two hours.
To ensure database accuracy, Commissioner Sagar ordered field verification reports for registered voters who no longer reside at their listed addresses or cannot be traced. He instructed staff to act strictly under election guidelines without yielding to political influence or external pressure.
The administration department, education department, and chief medical officer were asked to ensure the full-time availability of teachers and ASHA workers for election duties. Sagar warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against employees who neglect duties or remain absent without valid reasons. The civic body also plans to boost public awareness using announcement vehicles, newspaper advertisements, and traditional drum announcements across Bhiwandi.
