Bombay High Court Halts BMC Plan to Alter Neville D'Souza Ground Reservation in Bandra

The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to refrain from taking any further steps to change the reservation status of the Neville D’Souza Football Ground at Bandra Reclamation until further orders.

The directive came after the court observed that an assurance previously given to it regarding the matter had not been communicated to the civic chief.

The Neville D’Souza Football Ground, situated in Bandra Reclamation, has been the subject of civic deliberations concerning its land-use reservation. With the High Court's intervention, the civic body must pause all administrative procedures aimed at altering the designation of the open sports space until subsequent hearings take place.

The court emphasized the lapse regarding internal civic communication, noting that the undertaking presented before the bench had not reached the leadership of the municipal corporation.

Further legal and administrative details on the matter remain awaited as the interim directive stays in effect across the municipal administration.
