Central Railway Announces Special Trains Between Mumbai and Kerala With Halt at Thane

Central Railway announced special train services between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Kurla and Thiruvananthapuram Central to accommodate passenger rush ahead of the Onam festival, with scheduled halts at Thane and several key stations along the route.
The special trains, numbered 01463 and 01464, will operate via Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala to facilitate travel during the major festive period in the southern state.
According to Central Railway, Train No. 01463 is scheduled to depart from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 4 pm on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The train will reach Thiruvananthapuram Central at 11:30 pm on Monday, August 24.
For the return journey, Train No. 01464 will depart from Thiruvananthapuram Central at 2 pm on Saturday, August 29, and will arrive at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Kurla at 12:55 am on Monday, August 31.
The service will provide connectivity across multiple states. Along its route in Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka, the train will halt at Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon, Karwar, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Byndoor, Kundapura, Udupi, and Mangaluru Junction.
In Kerala, the halts include Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur Junction, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanassery, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayankulam Junction, Karunagappalli, Sasthamkotta, Kollam Junction, and Varkala Sivagiri before terminating at Thiruvananthapuram Central.
The special train will run with a total of multiple coach categories. The composition includes three AC 2-Tier coaches, four AC 3-Tier coaches, 11 Sleeper Class coaches, four General Second Class coaches, and two Second Seating-cum-Guard’s Brake Vans.
Reservations for Train No. 01463 will open from Saturday, August 22. Bookings can be made across all Passenger Reservation System counters and online via the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation website. In addition, passengers can make reservations using the RailOne app.
Unreserved tickets for the designated general coaches can be purchased through the UTS system at normal charges.
Central Railway introduced the special service to manage the significant passenger rush expected during Onam and to provide an additional travel option between Mumbai and Kerala.
