Central Railway Launches Daily CSMT-Sawantwadi Road Express Train

Central Railway has announced the launch of a new daily Express train service connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai to Sawantwadi Road, catering to the travel requirements of passengers heading to the Konkan region.

The service has been introduced to address a long-standing demand for improved rail connectivity between Mumbai and the Konkan belt, according to an official statement from Central Railway.

The inaugural service will be flagged off from CSMT on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 12.50 pm. Following its departure from the Mumbai terminus, the special train is scheduled to arrive at Sawantwadi Road at 2 am the following day.

Central Railway stated that the new train service will feature a combination of AC, sleeper, and general seating coaches to accommodate different categories of passengers traveling along the route.

The daily operational schedule and passenger services will follow the inaugural run from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, establishing an everyday direct rail link between the city and Sawantwadi Road.
