CM Devendra Fadnavis Orders MSME Survey To Boost Jobs In Maharashtra

During an industry policy review meeting held in Mumbai on July 17, 2026, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis officially directed the state's Industry Department to conduct a detailed survey of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The Chief Minister's directive is aimed at creating a stronger industrial ecosystem to support the growth of these vital business entities across the state.
According to an official statement released after the meeting, Fadnavis emphasized that MSMEs are key to job creation. The review meeting focused heavily on the state's existing industry policies and how they can be better utilized to foster a supportive environment for small and medium-sized businesses.
During the discussions in Mumbai, Chief Minister Fadnavis pointed out that Maharashtra continues to attract the highest volume of investment in the country. However, he stressed that attracting investment is only the first step. He stated that there is an urgent need to successfully convert these attracted investments into active, physical industries and real employment opportunities for the workforce.
To address this, Fadnavis called for the effective and thorough implementation of the state's existing industrial policies. The planned survey by the Industry Department is expected to play a critical role in identifying the specific needs of MSMEs, allowing the government to develop a more robust ecosystem that can effectively translate investment into active industries and jobs.
The directive highlights the state government's focus on leveraging Maharashtra's strong investment appeal to build a more sustainable economic structure driven by the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises.
