Cobra Hatchling Rescued from Storeroom at Raheja Hospital in Mahim

A cobra hatchling was found inside the premises of Raheja Hospital in Mahim on August 26, triggering panic among hospital staff and local residents near the Mahim Police Colony before being safely captured by a snake rescuer.

The venomous reptile was discovered inside a hospital storeroom. Recognizing the danger posed by the snake, the hospital personnel immediately reached out for assistance to ensure the safety of everyone on the premises.

Police constable Sachin More, who is also an experienced snake rescuer, responded to the alert. While travelling to the location, More informed the concerned police officials as well as the police control room regarding the emergency call.

Upon arrival at the Mahim hospital, More located the cobra hatchling inside the storeroom. Visuals from the rescue showed the small snake attempting to hide as More carefully worked to secure it inside a container. Despite the hatchling reportedly putting up resistance during the capture attempt, the rescuer managed to safely secure the snake without causing it any physical harm.

In accordance with official Forest Department guidelines, the rescued cobra hatchling was later transported and released safely into its natural habitat.

Following the operation, More warned hospital authorities and workers that there remains a possibility of finding more cobra hatchlings in the immediate area. He pointed out that he had previously rescued cobra hatchlings from the same Mahim locality in past instances.

More advised the hospital staff to remain calm, avoid panicking, and maintain strict vigilance across the premises. He also urged staff members to help spread awareness regarding the possible presence of snakes in the surrounding neighbourhood.
