Cobra Rescued From Dombivli Railway Station Ticket Booking Window

A large cobra with its hood raised was safely rescued after it was spotted at a ticket booking window of the Dombivli railway station on Saturday. The incident, which took place at the Ramnagar Booking Office on the east side of the station, triggered panic among commuters and briefly disrupted ticketing operations.

The presence of the venomous reptile at the booking window caused temporary chaos as a crowd of commuters gathered around the booking office. According to railway officials, the snake had managed to enter the booking hall window through the rear side of an abandoned Railway Protection Force (RPF) office located near the ticketing area.

Upon being alerted to the snake's presence, railway officials and commuters took quick action to secure the area. A trained Sarp Mitra, or snake rescuer, was called to the spot to handle the situation. The rescuer safely caught the cobra, ensuring that no harm was done to either the commuters or the reptile itself.

The brief disruption to ticketing operations was resolved once the snake was safely removed from the booking window. Following the successful rescue of the cobra, railway staff took steps to address the safety hazard. They informed the Inspector of Works (IOW) about the incident.

The staff requested the IOW to carry out repairs and install protective netting at the window to prevent similar wildlife entries in the future. The incident involved commuters, railway officials, the trained Sarp Mitra, and the Inspector of Works. The episode has highlighted the need for proper maintenance of unused railway buildings, such as the abandoned RPF office. Railway staff emphasized that preventive measures are necessary to stop wildlife from entering passenger areas and to ensure the safety of commuters using the station.
