Creative Balancing Ganpati Idols Mark Ganesh Aagman Processions in Mumbai

Mumbai marked the start of festive celebrations on August 29 with grand Ganesh Aagman Sohlas, as mandals across the city rolled out elaborate processions and innovative idol designs. Among the various arrivals, creative balancing murtis from mandals including Mumbai Cha Peshwa and Morya Maulana Azad Road caught widespread attention.

Processions saw large crowds of devotees gather to welcome the idols ahead of the festival. Mandals showcased diverse concepts and craftsmanship, with engineering and artistic choices taking center stage.

At Mumbai Cha Peshwa, the mandal introduced a mid-air idol crafted entirely out of paper. The design gave the massive murti a lightweight appearance while creating an illusion of floating in mid-air. The entire structure appeared balanced on a single small support styled as a veena associated with Goddess Saraswati placed beneath the deity, maintaining an upright posture despite its towering scale.

Meanwhile, at Maulana Azad Road, the Morya mandal presented a multi-tiered, Ramayana-themed balancing idol. The murti depicted Lord Ganesha in the avatar of Shri Ram, holding a bow and arrow in a warrior posture.

The base of the Maulana Azad Road idol featured an intricate composition where Lord Ganesha stood directly on the palm of Lord Hanuman. Hanuman was depicted balancing on one leg atop a mountain, forming a multi-level structure that drew praise from devotees for its visual balance and artistic execution.

Both mandals drew considerable interest during the August 29 arrival processions as devotees gathered across Mumbai to view the unique designs and celebrate the beginning of the festive season.
