Cuffe Parade Police Trace Three Missing Minor Girls to Karjat Resort Within Six Hours

The Cuffe Parade Police traced three minor girls who had gone missing from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Nagar in Cuffe Parade and reunited them with their families within six hours, officials said.

The case was registered at the Cuffe Parade Police Station under FIR No. 196/2026, under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint lodged by the mother of one of the girls on August 25, 2026.

According to the police, the incident unfolded between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm on August 25. The complainant stated that her 15-year-old daughter was at home with the family during the night. The mother left for work around 7:00 am, assuming the girl was inside the house or had gone to the washroom. By noon, the mother realised that the teenager had not returned from school, initially suspecting she had simply been delayed on her commute.

However, at around 4:00 pm, the girl's class teacher contacted the family to inform them that the 15-year-old, along with two of her friends, had been missing school for several days and had remained absent that day as well. Suspecting that the teenager had been enticed or taken away by an unidentified person, the mother approached the Cuffe Parade Police, leading to an FIR being registered at around 6:45 pm.

Following the complaint, a team from the Crime Detection Team led by Police Sub-Inspector Prashant Nerkar initiated an investigation. Using details provided by the complainant alongside technical analysis, the police pinpointed the location of the missing girls to Karjat in Raigad district.

After securing permission from senior officers, the Crime Detection Team split into two units and travelled to the identified location. The officers located the 15-year-old girl and her two friends at a resort in Karjat. All three minors were brought back to the Cuffe Parade Police Station, questioned appropriately, and safely handed over to their parents.

The search operation was executed by PSI Prashant Nerkar, Police Head Constables Patil and Fad, and Police Constables Khamkar, Patharut, and Jadhav, with technical assistance provided by Police Constable Bandgar.
