Demolition of Shahenshah-e-Pir Baba Dargah Underway in Dindoshi

Authorities began the demolition of the Shahenshah-e-Pir Baba Dargah structure on Forest Department land in Dindoshi, Goregaon, on Monday, following a court order. Heavy police security was deployed to secure the site during the operation.

Police officials barricaded roads near the location and restricted public access to the disputed site while maintaining tight security throughout the demolition drive. Visuals from the scene showed a heavy police presence managing the surrounding area.

The drive in Dindoshi follows a similar demolition carried out last month in nearby Aarey Colony. On June 2, authorities used bulldozers and JCB machines to demolish the Sufi Hazrat Syed Pir Baba Dargah in Unit 32 of Aarey Colony, Goregaon East, under heavy security cover. Locals noted that the structure, situated about 400 metres from Aarey Police Station, had been a landmark in the area for several decades. The site had been under dispute and was previously demolished before being rebuilt and expanded.

The earlier demolition in Aarey drew sharp criticism from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Waris Pathan, who stated that the entire shrine was obliterated and that he was barred from entering the site during the operation.

Pathan alleged that trustees of the Aarey dargah had legally moved court and filed an urgent petition listed for a hearing at 2:00 PM at the Dindoshi Court. However, authorities arrived at 9:00 AM on the morning of the hearing to demolish the structure. Pathan stated that authorities misused police machinery and did not allow trustees their day in court while the matter was sub judice.
