Devotees Hold Annual Kanwar Yatra From Antop Hill to Babulnath Temple in Mumbai

Hundreds of Shiva devotees participated in a Kanwar Yatra on Sunday, walking from Antop Hill to the historic Babulnath Temple in South Mumbai to perform Jalabhishek during the holy month of Sawan.
Chanting ‘Bol Bam’ and ‘Har Har Mahadev’, devotees carried pots of holy water on foot across the city to offer to Lord Shiva at Babulnath Dham, believing the ritual brings blessings and fulfills prayers.
A participating Kanwariya said the procession began its journey from Motilal Nehru Nagar in Antop Hill. Devotees of all age groups, including children, women, adults, and the elderly, took part in the religious procession and chanted hymns throughout the route.
Participants noted that the annual yatra from Motilal Nehru Nagar in Antop Hill has been organised regularly for the past seven years. Devotees walk the entire distance to the Babulnath Temple each year during Sawan to complete their offerings.
A devotee remarked that the enthusiasm of women and children helped keep the procession moving despite the long distance, adding that their religious faith provided the energy required to complete the journey on foot without fatigue.
The yatra in Mumbai was held as part of ongoing Sawan observances, during which devotees across the country undertake pilgrimages and carry holy water to Lord Shiva temples.
