DMRC Secures ISO 55001:2024 Certification for Mumbai Metro Line-3

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has become the first metro organisation in India to receive the latest ISO 55001:2024 certification for its Asset Management System on Mumbai Metro Line-3, a 33.5-km corridor connecting Colaba, Bandra, and SEEPZ.
The certification marks a strategic shift towards risk-based and lifecycle-oriented asset management. According to a statement issued by the DMRC, the standard provides a globally recognised framework for managing infrastructure throughout its lifecycle, allowing the organisation to balance asset performance, operational risks, and lifecycle costs.
The DMRC handles operations and maintenance across the entire Mumbai Metro Line-3 corridor. Its responsibilities include managing critical assets such as rolling stock, traction, signalling, telecommunications, stations, lifts, escalators, tracks, and civil infrastructure.
To achieve the certification, the DMRC enhanced its Strategic Asset Management Plan, aligned asset management goals with organisational priorities, strengthened risk assessments and lifecycle controls, and conducted capacity-building and training programmes for its personnel. The system undergoes continuous monitoring through key performance indicators, internal audits, and management reviews.
The transit agency noted that the ISO 55001:2024 standard reinforces its focus on safety, reliability, efficiency, and sustainability. The achievement establishes a benchmark for lifecycle-based asset management across India's urban rail network and demonstrates the DMRC's capacity to deliver metro operations and maintenance expertise outside the Delhi-NCR region.
