Drunken Youth Arrested for Attacking Police Officer in Kalyan West

A police constable was injured after an allegedly intoxicated youth attacked him with a stick in the Gauripada area of Kalyan West. Police Constable Ganesh Chavan, attached to the Khadakpada Police Station, had reached the scene after local residents reported a public disturbance to the police control room. The accused, identified as Rahul Tayade, was arrested following the attack.
The incident took place after Tayade was allegedly creating a ruckus in the Gauripada locality. Concerned by the disruption, local residents alerted the police control room to request assistance. Constable Chavan was dispatched from the Khadakpada Police Station to the site to assess the situation.
Upon Constable Chavan's arrival at the location, Tayade allegedly confronted the officer in an intoxicated state and attacked him with a stick. The assault led to an altercation between the officer and the accused, during which the police constable sustained injuries.
The violent encounter was captured on CCTV cameras in the area. The recorded footage showed the suspect attacking the police officer with a stick in a fit of rage, followed by the two engaging in a scuffle. The video visuals also showed a man witnessing the entire fight nearby; however, the bystander did not intervene to stop the altercation.
Following the assault on Constable Chavan, a formal case was registered against Rahul Tayade at the Khadakpada Police Station. Police officers subsequently arrested Tayade in connection with the incident.
The CCTV video of the attack was later widely circulated across social media platforms, drawing significant public attention. Numerous social media users condemned the act and strongly criticised the accused for his behaviour.
