Fire Breaks Out at Sponge Manufacturing Unit in Rabale MIDC

A massive fire broke out at a sponge manufacturing company in the Rabale Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area on Sunday morning, triggering an immediate emergency response from local authorities.

Following reports of the blaze, around eight fire tenders from the Navi Mumbai Fire Department rushed to the scene to initiate firefighting and containment operations. Fire personnel worked to bring the blaze under control and halt its spread across the industrial unit.

According to initial reports, the manufacturing facility uses highly flammable materials, including polyurethane foam, in its operations. The presence of these combustible substances is believed to have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire and the thick plumes of smoke that billowed from the building. The fire spread through the unit, causing significant damage to machinery, industrial equipment, and stored raw materials.

No casualties or injuries have been reported from the incident so far. Firefighters continued with cooling operations to secure the structure and eliminate any remaining hotspots within the premises.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown as investigations continue. Rabale MIDC forms a key industrial hub within the broader Thane-Belapur industrial belt, housing numerous commercial, manufacturing, and chemical establishments.
