Fire Gutted Vikhroli House Where Father and Son Were Murdered

A house in Vikhroli's Parksite area, where a man and his 14-year-old son were murdered earlier this month, was completely gutted in a fire during the early hours of Monday morning. Parksite police have initiated a probe into the incident following allegations that an unidentified person deliberately set the locked residence ablaze.

The blaze resulted in the destruction of household articles, clothes, and other personal belongings inside the home. Authorities confirmed that the house had been locked ever since the double murder took place. At present, the exact cause of the fire and the full extent of the physical and material damage remain to be established.

The residence was the site of a tragic family dispute, when Sunil Vishwakarma and his 14-year-old son, Shlok, were stabbed to death allegedly over an argument regarding playing loud music. On August 6, police arrested two of Sunil’s brothers—Suraj Vishwakarma, aged 33, and Surendra Vishwakarma, aged 36—along with Surendra’s 35-year-old wife, Priti Vishwakarma, for the killings.

The complainant in the fire incident, 63-year-old Vijayalakshmi Vishwakarma, is the mother of the accused brothers. She informed the police that she had not been living at the Vikhroli residence recently, having temporarily stayed with her elder son, Anil Vishwakarma, in Nalasopara for the past 15 to 20 days.

In her statement to the authorities, Vijayalakshmi stated that the family could not identify any potential accidental causes for the outbreak of the fire. She expressed suspicion that an unknown individual had intentionally torched the locked house.

The Parksite police station is now actively investigating all circumstances surrounding the early Monday morning fire. Investigators are looking into whether the suspected arson is directly connected to the previous family dispute and subsequent double murder.
