GSB Wadala Mandal Prepares Mahaprasad for 25,000 Daily Amid FDA Safety Checks

GSB Wadala Mandal Prepares Mahaprasad for 25,000 Daily Amid FDA Safety Checks

The GSB Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal in Wadala, Mumbai, is preparing round-the-clock Mahaprasad for thousands of devotees during the 12-day Ganeshotsav 2026 celebrations. The Wadala mandal is maintaining strict hygiene and food-safety protocols as state regulatory authorities step up festival food inspections across Maharashtra.

Between 22,000 and 25,000 people visit the Wadala mandal daily to partake in and enjoy the traditional community feast. To cater to the massive turnout arriving throughout the 12-day festival, kitchen teams work continuously, preparing the prasad around the clock, day and night, for the thousands of arriving devotees.

The large-scale community feeding effort comes as the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) introduces its new 'Festival Enforcement Calendar'. This state initiative has been launched to strengthen food-safety checks and enforcement around major festivals and religious occasions across the state.

Under the expanded enforcement drive, the Maharashtra FDA is bringing large-scale community feeding events under formal regulatory oversight. Religious feasts and community kitchens across the state—including Mahaprasads, bhandaras, langars, and annachhatras—are now being brought under heightened food-safety scrutiny and inspection to protect public health.

In response to the expanded government scrutiny, the GSB Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal stated that it is prepared for the Maharashtra FDA checks. The mandal confirmed that it is strictly continuing with its established hygiene and food-safety protocols to safeguard the health of the 22,000 to 25,000 devotees who are served daily.

Speaking on Thursday, September 10, 2026, GSB Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal chairman Anant Pai explained how the organization coordinates the culinary preparations. Pai said the mandal brings specialised cooks from Karnataka every year specifically to prepare the massive community feast for the festival.
