IMD Forecasts Light Rain for Mumbai as Winds Reach Up to 60 Kmph

Mumbai and its suburbs experienced overcast skies, gusty winds, and intermittent monsoon conditions on Thursday morning as the India Meteorological Department forecast light rainfall across the city. The weather agency also confirmed that no rain alert has been issued for Mumbai for the remaining days of the week.
According to the IMD, the city and its suburban areas are likely to remain generally cloudy throughout the day, with light showers anticipated at several locations. While meteorologists do not expect widespread heavy rainfall, isolated pockets across the region could still receive moderate to heavy spells of rain accompanied by strong, gusty winds.
Wind speeds in Mumbai are expected to remain around 40 to 50 kmph, with occasional gusts potentially touching 50 to 60 kmph during more intense spells of showers. In terms of temperatures, the minimum temperature recorded across the city on Thursday morning was 28°C, while the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 31°C.
Despite the ongoing monsoon activity, Mumbai's air quality remained in the 'Good' category on Thursday morning. Official monitoring data recorded the city's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 22.
Under the standard AQI classification system, an index reading between 0 and 50 is considered 'Good', signifying minimal health risks for residents. Readings between 51 and 100 are categorized as 'Moderate', while levels between 101 and 200 are rated 'Poor'. An AQI ranging from 201 to 300 is classified as 'Unhealthy', and any reading above 300 falls into the 'Severe' category.
With no weather alerts currently in effect for the city, Mumbai is expected to experience continued cloudy conditions and intermittent light showers rather than heavy downpours over the next few days.
