Mayor Ritu Tawde Inspects Jogeshwari East Trauma Care Hospital, Orders 24/7 Scheme Desk

Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde conducted a surprise inspection of the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Municipal Hospital in Jogeshwari East on Wednesday evening, August 19, reviewing medical facilities, patient care, cleanliness, and overall hospital arrangements.

During her visit to the registration counter for the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana on the ground floor, Tawde directed the hospital administration to operate the desk 24 hours a day instead of the existing 8 am to 4 pm schedule. She also stated that patients holding Ayushman cards must not be unnecessarily asked to submit additional documentation.

The Mayor inspected the accident department, intensive care unit, and paediatric, women's, and men's medical wards located on the ninth and tenth floors. During interactions with patients, Tawde sought feedback on treatment from doctors and nurses, medicine availability, cleanliness, and meals. After personally inspecting the food being provided to patients, she ordered the administration to immediately improve its quality.

Tawde also directed hospital officials to maintain timely medicine supplies, uphold cleanliness across all departments, and ensure staff maintain a compassionate approach while dealing with patients. She asked the administration to formally submit its requirements regarding manpower, medical equipment, and other necessary facilities.

During an inspection of the DSA Cath Lab on the second floor, Tawde reviewed arrangements in the neurosurgery department and stated that she would write to the Municipal Corporation administration to seek the appointment of full-time doctors and medical staff for the unit.

Contractual employees at the hospital submitted a memorandum outlining their concerns and demands. Tawde assured them that she would organise a joint meeting with the Municipal Corporation administration to address their issues. Medical Superintendents Dr Chhaya Shinde and Dr Niranjan Kshirsagar, along with medical officers and paramedical personnel, were present during the inspection.
