IMD Forecasts Light to Moderate Showers for Thane, Mumbai, and Palghar

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall for Thane and the neighbouring districts of Mumbai and Palghar over the course of this week.

The weather forecast comes alongside meteorological data showing that rainfall recorded during August has remained significantly lower than the levels documented over the same period last year.

According to official data released by the IMD, total rainfall received between August 1 and August 25 stood at 302.3 mm. This figure represents only 28.67 per cent of the 1,054.20 mm recorded during the corresponding period in the previous year.

The IMD figures also indicate that the rainfall registered between August 1 and August 25 accounts for just 13.03 per cent of the region's annual average rainfall, which stands at 2,319 mm.

Despite the slower pace of precipitation recorded during the month of August, overall seasonal figures show that Santacruz has logged a cumulative total of 2,215 mm of rainfall since the onset of the monsoon season.

With the IMD predicting light to moderate showers for Thane, Palghar, and Mumbai, authorities and residents across the region continue to track weather patterns and precipitation levels for the remainder of the monsoon period.
