Injured Leopard Sighted on IIT Bombay Campus, Forest Department Plans Rescue

An injured leopard has been spotted on the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) campus over the past two to three months, prompting the forest department to intensify monitoring and prepare plans for its safe capture and medical treatment.

The leopard, which is suspected to have an eye injury, was first identified through CCTV footage that was captured on the premises and shared by the institute's administration with the forest department.

Following the detection, forest officials installed five camera traps across the sprawling 550-acre campus. The cameras were deployed to track the animal's movements, evaluate its physical condition, and facilitate its safe rescue.

The forest department continues to maintain surveillance across the IIT-B campus to ensure the animal can be safely captured and treated for its injuries.
