Kalachowki Police Book Three Instagram Accounts Over Eid-e-Milad Clash Video

The Kalachowki police in Mumbai have registered a case against the operators of three Instagram accounts for allegedly circulating a video related to a clash during Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations, stating that the footage could create communal tension.

The complaint was filed by Police Constable Vikram Khaire, who is attached to the Cyber Squad of the Kalachowki police station.

According to the complaint, Constable Khaire was on day duty on August 29 and was assigned to monitor social media platforms for content that could potentially disturb public order. While screening Instagram, he came across a video uploaded on August 26 that showed a confrontation between two groups, with police personnel seen intervening to control the situation.

The video carried the headline, “They tried to tear the banner of Ganpati, so the people of Lalbaug Parel gave a befitting reply,” and featured the song “Jalwa Re Jalwa” playing in the background, the complaint stated.

The complainant alleged that the social media accounts circulated the video with the intention of misleading the public and creating unrest in society.

After identifying the Instagram accounts associated with the circulation of the video, the police registered a case. Investigators are now probing the accounts, looking into the origin and spread of the footage, and examining the circumstances surrounding its publication.
