Kalyan Doctor Allegedly Assaulted by Patient's Son over Diet and Prescription Queries

A 41-year-old doctor was allegedly abused and physically assaulted by a patient’s son at a hospital in Kalyan, police officials said on Sunday.
Following the incident, the Kalyan police registered a criminal case against the accused, identified as 30-year-old Vineet Jaywant Deshmukh, under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to the police, the confrontation took place after Deshmukh’s father visited the outpatient department of the hospital for a medical check-up. After examining the patient, Dr Yogendra Jaiswal prescribed medicines and provided clear instructions regarding dosage and daily dietary restrictions.
While the medical practitioner was addressing queries raised by the patient, Deshmukh allegedly grew aggressive and demanded further clarification concerning the dietary rules, dressing schedules, and medication use.
The altercation escalated when Deshmukh allegedly began verbally abusing the physician and subsequently assaulted him. Closed-circuit television footage from the hospital premises reportedly captured the sequence of events showing Deshmukh assaulting Dr Jaiswal during the consultation.
Police officials confirmed that legal action has been initiated under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following the complaint, and further procedures are underway.
