KDMC Launches Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive for 60,000 Stray Dogs in Kalyan

The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched a city-wide anti-rabies vaccination drive for stray dogs from the Birla College premises in Kalyan, aiming to inoculate around 60,000 animals across the twin-city area.

The phased preventive health campaign has begun with a target of vaccinating 20,000 stray dogs in its initial phase. Civic vaccination teams have been deployed across municipal wards to locate stray dogs, administer the anti-rabies vaccines, and maintain documentation of all covered animals.

Civic authorities stated that the campaign will progressively move through residential areas, public spaces, and locations with concentrated stray dog populations across all municipal wards, rather than staying restricted to selected zones.

The civic body is collaborating with local residents and animal lovers to carry out the drive. Residents who regularly care for stray dogs in their neighbourhoods are helping teams locate and approach the animals.

KDMC Mayor Harshali Chaudhary appealed to citizens and dog lovers to actively support the campaign and assist municipal teams to ensure widespread coverage and prevent rabies transmission across the region.
