Kharghar Hill Mayor Marathon in Navi Mumbai Secures AIMS Certification

The Kharghar Hill Mayor Marathon, described by organisers as India’s first full 42-km hill marathon, witnessed strong participation at Central Park in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, on Sunday.

Organised by the Panvel Municipal Corporation, the athletic event has received official certification from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde was among the participants at the event. He completed the 21.2-km race distance with a timing of 2 hours, 26 minutes, and 22 seconds.

Event organisers stated that the AIMS certification has enhanced the marathon's overall standing. They expressed confidence that the race will gain greater international recognition beginning next year and attract long-distance runners from across India and abroad.
