Mahalaxmi skywalk 90% complete, to cut transfer time by 20 minutes

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has reached around 90 per cent completion on a 283-metre multimodal skywalk at Mahalaxmi, designed to directly connect Metro Line 3, Mahalaxmi railway station, and the Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk Monorail station.

The Rs 60-crore infrastructure project is set to significantly ease travel for Mumbai commuters by reducing interchange and transfer times between the suburban railway, Metro Line 3, and Monorail systems by nearly 20 minutes.

According to the MMRDA, the structure will serve as India’s first skywalk equipped with travellators, enabling smooth pedestrian movement across the 283-metre elevated connector.

Work remains underway on the Rs 60-crore multimodal connector in Mahalaxmi as the final phases of construction are completed ahead of its opening to the public.
