Maharashtra Govt Sets Up High-Level Panel to Fix Roads and Traffic in Chakan

The Maharashtra government has constituted a high-level committee to address pothole-ridden roads, heavy traffic congestion, and infrastructure gaps in the Chakan industrial belt of Pune, aiming to ensure time-bound action.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis acknowledged on Friday that Chakan was grappling with serious infrastructure problems. He promised that the administration would take decisive steps to provide relief to the numerous industrial units operating across the belt.

The state government's decision follows growing criticism from industrialists and business leaders operating in the area. Multiple companies in the Chakan manufacturing zone had raised serious concerns regarding deteriorating roads and persistent traffic snarls affecting daily operations and transport logistics.

The condition of Chakan, which stands as one of Maharashtra's primary industrial hubs, had also provided political momentum to the Opposition, which recently targeted the state government over civic neglect and poor infrastructure management in the region.

The newly formed high-level panel has been tasked with assessing the infrastructure bottlenecks and implementing concrete measures to repair road networks and streamline traffic flow throughout the industrial corridor.
