Man Kicked Off Moving Train at Borivli After Door Dispute, Accused Arrested

A 24-year-old carpenter from Nalasopara, Tausif Shaikh, sustained serious injuries after a co-passenger kicked him off a moving suburban train near Borivli station on Tuesday night following an argument over standing space near the coach door. Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested the accused, 30-year-old Rahul Kumar Pandey, on charges of attempted murder.

The incident took place after Shaikh and his colleague Hussain Ali boarded a Virar-bound slow local train at Goregaon station at around 8:40 pm to head home. Pandey boarded the train at Kandivli station and stood opposite Shaikh and Ali near the general compartment door.

When the train arrived at Borivli station, Shaikh asked Pandey to move further inside the compartment to clear the doorway for other commuters to alight. The request led to a heated altercation. Ali intervened to resolve the dispute, but a scuffle ensued.

As the train started pulling out of Borivli station, Pandey approached Shaikh and kicked him in the back. Shaikh fell off the moving train onto the tracks, sustaining injuries to his head, right hand, thigh, and right ankle.

Following the fall, an injured Shaikh managed to reach Borivli station, where GRP personnel administered first aid at the emergency medical room. Ali apprehended Pandey and brought him to the GRP chowky at the station, where police placed him under arrest.

Shaikh was subsequently shifted to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivli for medical care, where doctors sutured his head injuries and advised rest.
