Man Pushed Out of Moving Local Train at Borivali Over Doorway Row, Accused Arrested

A petty argument inside a local train led to a commuter being kicked and shoved out of a moving train at Borivali on Tuesday night. The victim sustained multiple injuries, and the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested the accused on charges of attempted murder.
The incident occurred between 8.45pm and 9.00pm inside a second-class coach of a Virar-bound local train. The victim, Mohammad Tausif Kalim Shaikh, a carpenter residing in Nalasopara, had boarded the train at Goregaon with a friend after completing work at a site in Dindoshi. As the compartment was fully packed, Shaikh and his friend stood near the door.
The accused, Rahulkumar Pandey, who works as a salesman at a mobile service provider’s gallery and also resides in Nalasopara, boarded the train at Kandivali station. According to the complaint filed with the Borivali GRP, Pandey stood in the doorway, blocking entry and exit for other passengers.
When the train arrived at Borivali station, Shaikh asked Pandey to step aside to allow passengers to board and alight. Instead of moving, Pandey engaged in a verbal altercation with Shaikh. As the train began pulling out of Borivali station, Shaikh’s friend attempted to intervene, which further angered Pandey. Pandey then stepped toward Shaikh, kicked him in the back, and pushed him out of the moving train.
Because the train was travelling at a low speed, Shaikh survived the fall but suffered injuries to his hands, legs, and thighs. Railway personnel took him to the emergency medical room at Borivali station, after which he was transferred to Shatabdi Hospital for further medical treatment.
Borivali GRP officials subsequently arrested Pandey. Police Inspector PS Kande of the Borivali GRP confirmed that the accused has been arrested and booked for attempted murder.
The altercation comes shortly after an August 20 incident where a 62-year-old differently abled commuter, Cajetan Denis Pires, died after being pushed from a moving train between Mahim and Bandra stations following a dispute over seating in a coach reserved for disabled passengers.
