Meghwadi Police Arrest Kharghar Doctor Over Fake Insurance Claim

The Meghwadi police in Mumbai have arrested a doctor for his alleged involvement in a fraudulent insurance claim scheme involving forged medical documents. The accused doctor previously operated a hospital in the Kharghar locality, which has since shut down. The arrest follows an investigation into a fake claim submitted to an insurance company in 2025.

The fraudulent scheme was uncovered after a complaint was filed, prompting the police to initiate an investigation. As part of the probe, the police conducted a medical examination of the individual who was listed as the patient in the insurance claim.

The medical examination revealed that the purported patient had never undergone any surgical procedure. However, the medical documents submitted to the insurance company falsely claimed that the individual had undergone surgery for varicose veins.

In addition to the falsified medical papers, fake pharmacy bills had also been attached to the insurance claim to make it appear genuine.

According to the police, the investigation is ongoing to identify other accomplices involved in the racket. Authorities are currently working to determine who else signed the forged medical documents and pharmacy bills that were submitted to the insurance provider.

The Meghwadi police have indicated that more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
