Mumbai Ganesh Mandals Begin Ganeshotsav 2026 Rituals With Padya Pujan

Prominent Ganesh mandals across Mumbai officially began their pre-festival preparations and sacred rituals on July 27, 2026, marking the ceremonial start of arrangements for Ganeshotsav 2026. Major city mandals, including Lalbaugcha Raja, Mumbai Cha Raja, Chintamani, and Tejukaya, joined local devotees in performing customary rites ahead of the festival in September.

The pre-festival proceedings featured traditional rituals such as Padya Pujan, a sacred ceremony that involves the ceremonial washing and worship of the deity's feet. The ceremony formally inaugurates the festivities and reflects the devotion that has defined the mandal legacy in the city for nearly a century. One of the participating mandals is celebrating its 98th year during the upcoming festival season.

With less than two months remaining before Lord Ganesha arrives in September, the completion of these initial rituals signals the beginning of weeks of detailed planning and coordination among organizers.

Devotees across Mumbai can expect weeks of cultural, religious, and community celebrations leading up to the city's largest religious and cultural event.
