Mumbai GRP Returns 1,665 Stolen Mobile Phones Worth Rs 2.49 Crore in Ghatkopar

The Mumbai Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered and returned 1,665 stolen mobile phones valued at Rs 2.49 crore to their owners at a special event organised recently in Ghatkopar. GRP Commissioner Rakesh Kalasagar handed out the recovered handsets back to the complainants who attended the event.

The recovery was achieved through extensive investigative efforts conducted across Maharashtra and several other states. Special investigation teams comprising officers from both the Central and Western divisions executed the operation in coordination with the railway cyber cell, the railway crime branch, and officers across all railway police stations.

Police traced the stolen devices using IMEI-based technical analysis, digital tracking, and continuous cyber investigation. Each complaint was pursued through technical investigation, data analysis, field verification, and legal procedures to ensure the property was recovered.

In cases where stolen mobile phones were found to be operational in other states, the GRP established close coordination with the respective state police agencies to execute recoveries.

According to an official statement released by the GRP, effective cooperation among state police forces, local investigation teams, and technical units facilitated the successful recovery and restoration of the stolen mobile phones.
