Mumbai Lake Levels Reach 95.93 Per Cent as Vihar Touches Full Capacity

Water stock across the seven reservoirs supplying drinking water to Mumbai reached 95.93 per cent of their total live storage capacity on Sunday, August 30, according to data from the Hydraulic Engineer's Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre.

As of 6 am, the seven lakes collectively held 13,88,423 million litres of water. Among the reservoirs, Vihar lake remained 100 per cent full, while Upper Vaitarna recorded the lowest storage level at 89.76 per cent.

The recorded water levels show a slight dip compared to previous years. During the same period last year, the reservoirs held 14,00,995 million litres, representing 96.80 per cent of their total capacity.

The current storage is also marginally lower than the figures recorded in 2024, when the city's lakes held 13,88,614 million litres, or 95.94 per cent of their total live storage capacity.
